Route 66: Truxton, AZ Revisited

I shot this photograph near Truxton, AZ.

Processing Details: This image was processed 2x from a three-shot HDR file as described in my new on-line Mastering HDR class. I ran into a problem with the tree since it was a windy day and the branches were in motion. I toned down the double image of the tree branches by using Select>Color Range to select the greens, I then selected the opposite (via Select>Inverse) and retouched the branches at 50% Opacity. The selection did not include the second image of the branches because those branches were more blue-ish than green. I also selectively desaturated elements in the foreground so they would not distract from the boat.

Hi Mark,

Glad to hear that you've been enjoying my new images. I just wish you could see them huge since they contain an amazing amount of detail that you really can't see in these tiny on-line examples. I should soon have a web site up of my photography and that site will feature huge versions of the images (compared to what you see here).

This boat was in my front yard in Truxton, Arizona for quite some time. That place has a lot of bad memories for me but this photo of this boat, his ark. It evokes feelings of feeling stranded there, you can't sail a boat in the middle of the desert so there was no escaping that storm. I just wanted to let you know how much I love this picture.
