Yesterday, I drove from Camp Verde, AZ (where the bus has been parked for the last month) to Ash Fork, AZ. On my way, I made stops at twin arrows, flagstaff and Williams. Continue reading if you'd like to see one shot from each stop.
This shot is from a place called Twin Arrows and is found off exit 219 on Interstate 40 in Arizona just East of Flagstaff (let me know if you'd like me to include details like this in the future). There are two huge arrows pointing into the ground here, but they are pretty much falling apart and you can't really tell one of them was supposed to an arrow anymore. The whole place is pretty much slowly returning to nature and I'm glad I got a chance to drive by before it's gone.
This is a shot of a motel sign in Flagstaff, AZ. I was getting sick of taking straight-forward shots of it, so I started to raise my monopod above my head to get the camera to a high position and used the self-timer and ended up with this shot.
I ate dinner in Williams, AZ and couldn't help but take more shots of neon signs... including this one.
I'm currently parked in Ash Fork, AZ and plan to shoot some of the old motels and other buildings in the morning before slowly making my way towards Kingman, AZ, following as much of Route 66 as is practical in a 40' motorcoach.
Keep on putting up location info. I find it interesting to follow along on your journeys. I guess that I'm living vicariously through your exploits, as sad as that is to say. More images.

Wow - That whole area is my old stomping grounds. I grew up in Flagstaff and have been to Twin Arrows (both arrows were still standing when I was there), Ash Fork, and Williams several times. Thanks so much for posting these pictures! I'd love to see more...

Love the Twin Arrows shot. Funny how the photos always show a little of the photographer in them. Art, to me, is the ability to change the viewers mood and cause the eye to linger a little longer. Inspiring as always. Please include details of where shot taken, some of us may one day drive those same roads,

My parents live 6 miles west of Ash Fork & my grandparents owned a place near Camp Verde (Lake Montezuma) for years, so anything about the area is of interest...
