One great book about Route 66 is by Michael Wallis called The Mother Road. Here's the Amazon link: http://www.amazon.com/Route-66-Mother-Road-Anniversary/dp/0312281617/ref=pd_bbs_sr_2/104-8110554-9676742?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1179803906&sr=8-2

Ben if you have not already done so check out Oatman AZ on RT 66. About 40 min outside of Laughlin. "http://www.desertusa.com/oatman/du_oatman.html" If you do go, bring lots of carrots, there is a toll to pay before the burros will let you pass.

yes show more shots. thanks.

COMUG member here. I've done two roadtrips on Route 66 (been fascinated by the Mother Road since college). Tom Snyder's Route 66 travel guide was great for discovering the hidden gems, and has some great stories as well. Here's the amazon link: http://www.amazon.com/Route-66-Travelers-Roadside-Companion/dp/0312254172/ref=pd_bbs_sr_8/104-4802914-6424755?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1179815058&sr=8-8

Another vote for more photos. Maybe if you have the time, some post processing details to.

I agree with the above post, post processing details (maybe while you're filling up the gas tanks) especially for the top image! Thanks much.

Some great shots up there. For more information about guide books along Route 66, check out www.route66guidebooks.com. It lists just about every book available with a brief description of each, including books that only cover sections of the highway. If you decide you need help finding the Mother Road in Southern California, check out my website and feel free to ask any questions.

Hi Ben, I love that first shot. any chance you'd share some of the techniques you used to 'enhance' it? I just love the depth and the colors and the effects.

Hey Tyler,

I'd love to buy an old motel on Route 66 and restore it... then give workshops from that location where the participants can stay on-site and we could shoot all the cool stuff on 66. I'd also have a bus from 1947 to go on shooting trips with... it would be perfect! I'd only have to somehow run into about 1.5 million to do it right, and I doubt that's going to happen.
