Congrats on the sale! WOW that coach is huge! Are you going to parallel park that thing?

Ben Willmore

I don't plan on doing much parallel parking... I'll be pulling a car behind it and doubt there will be much precise parking techniques being done.

Ben, that is a monster beauty. How much longer is that than the normal Grayhound bus? it just conjures up so many dreams of travel and independence, it's like a rolling island on wheels. Home and office. Have a ball...

Ben Willmore

The one pictured is a 40' coach. Grayhounds are vary between 40-45'... most older ones being 40'.

Caroline Robinson

Ben, it sounds exciting. Do you have a family? How many people will be living in the bus?

Ben Willmore

I'll be a single guy driving a darn big bus looking for a companion to join me at some point.

Grats on getting underway! It seems like everything is coming together nicely for you.

Ben, Best of luck. When I saw the Autohome that you were thinking of putting on your 4x4, I thought thats brilliant and got the Extreme on the Jeep and it is si much fun.

Hi Peter,

I haven't decided if I'll end up with that tent yet... not sure I want it on the roof at all times... might cause too much wind noise and reduce gas mileage too much for the few times I'd use it. If I wasn't living on a motorcoach, then I could remove it and throw it in the garage when not in use and it would make more sense.

Hi Ben,

"Throw it in the Garage"? This thing is heavy and awkward. My MPG has gone up but wind noise is OK up to 100kph - not likely to do that over rocky ground.

Maybe as you are doing up a bus, have you looked at ex army trucks? They have high wheel base, all wheel drive and maybe the odd rocket launcher for those road rage episodes.

Cheers Peter

Ben Willmore

Well, I would have set up a pully system to make it easier to hoist into the rafters of my garage and wouldn't expect to be putting it on/off every week.
