One of my favorite blogs has information about a new Auto Focus system that uses no moving parts and therefor doesn't cut the amount of light entering the lens when going for a wide depth of field.

I follow this too. But I am not sure when we will see results for practical photography as the basic concepts are there for quite some time..
Maybe they work on solutions for mobile phones though.
